The Measuring Tool:

The purpose of the measuring tool is to assist teachers in choosing learning websites for their students. Four major factors were found in student motivation particular to the use of ICT and specifically, when using learning websites. First is the learning and motivational theory being used in the website. Second is the design of the website or its interface. Third is the students’ emotional state when entering the lesson. The final motivational factor found is the teacher’s input to the learning experience. These four factors are directly correlated to how motivated a student feels when using a learning website. However, the tool is only able to measure the first two factors; the learning/motivational theory being employed and the website’s design, in other words 'content' and 'design'. The following diagram is an overview of how the tool will measure the effectiveness of motivation in a learning website.
